I know this came out a bit ago, but it is new to me! I was searching for authors with writing style and wit similar to Julia Quinn, and came across a forum post listing her name. Decided to purchase her first book, and was not disappointed! If I’m being nit picky, there are a few story flow kinks to work out. But I LOVE her style and characters. She is similar to Quinn, Kleypas, and MacLean, but is also uniquely her own. Great start, and promising candidate to add to my “favorite authors” list. Definitely looking forward to devouring the rest of her books!

Enjoyed the characters. Love a strong woman, although I wanted to smack her a couple of times! Writing style was very good.
I agree with the reviewer who mentioned that this is a plot we have seen many times. While I found this book very cliched and maybe trying a bit too hard, it was an enjoyable read and I think we will see great new books coming as the author evolves. I also thought that the build up to James and Isabella getting together was to short or the author did not do a great job of building a stronger past. Everyone in the book was just a bit too clever. I plan to see what comes next from Sara Lindsey and am very hopeful
Her characters are real and different. I encourage anyone who loves regency romance to give her a try. I read a lot of regency historicals and some leave me feeling bored or like something is missing. I felt that the characters were easy to relate to, there was some good intimate scenes (although I thought there could be more), and the story was written well.
I swear Izzy is a force of nature and poor James just got caught out in the storm. Isabella loved James from the time she was 6 and swore she was going to marry him. James hates his family so much he swears he will never marry and produce an heir to the title. This doesn't sit well with Isabella and she starts plotting James' downfall..but he isn't too sad to have fallen at the end. Great love story and awesome opening to a new series.
I have to ask....why was the book named, "Promise me tonight"
"Promise me forever" would have been more appropriate. I like this writer. The hero and heroine have very good chemistry. The hero does not show much affection towards the heroine in the beginning. However, he is redeemed early on in the story, which makes his love for the heroine believable. The story is engaging and entertaining. Love scenes are hot and saucy. I love romance stories that are based on the heroine being in love with the hero from her youth. Very well put together and a perfect ending. I plan on reading the rest of this series and more by this author.
Having heard lots of buzz about Sara Lindsey being "the next Julia Quinn," of course, I was bound to check her out. Julia Quinn is among my favorite authors for good reason; she combines humor, passion, and wit to create brilliantly entertaining romances.

While it took me a couple of weeks to work through this book, it is not the book's fault! I immediately fell in love with Isabella Weston, a spunky and determined young woman. She knows what she wants, and what she really wants is James Sheffield. And who could blame her? James is dashing, handsome, and he's always been a knight in shining armor to Isabella. When she manages to surprise him one evening with a plan to snare him into marriage, James is stunned. He wants nothing to do with Isabella as a wife...or really wants a wife at all. Instead, he's content to allow his grandfather's precious estate to die with him.

As a debut novel, this one is exceptional. I suspect that Lindsey's works will only continue to improve with time.
I read this after reading A Rogue for All Seasons (Weston Family), which I really enjoyed. I think that in this case most of the reviews on this particular book are a bit harsh. The h has been in love with the H forever and she very immaturely goes about seducing the H so that he'll marry her. Sure she knows that he doesn't want to get married to anyone but she thinks she can save him. For heaven's sake she is only 19 and very sheltered, it's totally plausible. The H then disappears immediately after the wedding and joins the navy. The h is then left to fend for herself and ends up having a baby that the H knows nothing about. The H returns and is then remorseful. It's a cute story, with frustrating points at times but I did like the book. I've now downloaded the book after this one and look forward to reading it.
